Maria Fatima Salgado

New Bedford – Maria Fatima Salgado, age 71, died, unexpectedly, on Friday, March 28, 2014 at her home in New Bedford. She was the loving wife of Antonio D. Salgado and the daughter of Maria Fatima Sousa. Mrs. Salgado was born in Terceira, Azores, moved to this country in 1963 and worked as a Stitcher in the clothing industry.
She leaves behind her husband, Antonio of New Bedford; 2 children: Antone Salgado and his wife, Debora, of Acushnet, and Jeanna Salgado-Melo and her husband, James, of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren: T.J., Tahlia and Camron Salgado and Sophia Salgado-Melo; a sister, Manuela Sousa of Terceira, Azores as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Salgado’s funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with visitation from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
