John George, Sr.

New Bedford – John George, Sr., age 92 of Dartmouth, passed away, peacefully, on Friday, June 27 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Beatrice (Gananca) George and the son of Patronilla (Santos) and Antone George. John was born in New Bedford but was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. Mr. George was well known in Dartmouth as the owner of John George Farms.
His surviving family includes his two sons: John George and Richard George, both of Dartmouth; 2 granddaughters: Attorney Tara M. George of Dartmouth and Katherine E. George of New Bedford, his best friend and sidekick, Gus Braga of Fall River; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 4 siblings: Conceicao Jorge, Mary George, Helen Mello and Joseph George.
Private arrangements were placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
