Irene Furtado

New Bedford – Irene Furtado, age 84 of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday December 17, 2015 at Care One at New Bedford. A lifelong resident of this area, Irene was daughter to the late Amelia (Viveiros) and Alfred Cabral and worked as a Home Health Aide for many years until her retirement.

Her family includes 4 children: Manuel Furtado of Dartmouth, Natalie Cardoza of Wareham, Nancy Giusti of New Bedford and the late John Furtado, Jr.; 3 siblings: Leonard Cabral, Richard Cabral and the late Christina Blecha; as well as 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be Tuesday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Religious Service to begin at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
