Judith Marie Alegre

Judith Marie Alegre, age 49, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at her home. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, she was the beloved daughter of Maria Elizabeth (DaSilva) Goncalves and the late Jacinto B. Alegre.

Judith worked as a Dietary Aide for Island Terrace Nursing Home.

Judith earned an Associate’s Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Newbury College and a Business Certificate from Burdett College.

She is survived by her mother, Maria Elizabeth Goncalves and her husband, Antonio, of Dartmouth; 4 siblings: Denice Vardo and her husband, James, of New Bedford, Carla Murphy of Dartmouth, Gary Alegre and David Alegre, both of California. Her companion, Raymond M. Viera of New Bedford; aunt and uncle, Giselle and Nelson Amaral of Dartmouth, as well as several cousins, 1 niece and 4 nephews.

Her funeral will be Friday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial of cremains will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4 – 7 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, Ma 02740.
