Elzira C. Vicente

New Bedford - Elzira C. Vicente, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Alberto M. Vicente and the daughter of the late Jose Dias and Ilda (deSousa) Dias DeAlmeida.

Born in Sao Jose, Ponta Delgada, Azores, Mrs. Vicente dedicated herself to the well being of her family. Elzira enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, dancing, card games with her close friends as well as going to the festas.

She is survived by 5 children: Rui Vicente, Steven Vicente and his companion Kim Cormier Souza, Grace Gibbs and her husband, Patrick, Peggy Vicente and Linda Vicente; siblings, Walter M. Almeida, Jorge A. Almeida, John M. Almeida and Carlos A. Almeida; as well as 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be Monday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
