Jose Ignacio

Fairhaven – Jose Ignacio, age 103, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Royal of Fairhaven. He was the loving son of the late Joaquim J. Ignacio and Maria (Dutra) Ignacio.

Jose was born on April 22, 1913 and retired from the Fairhaven Shipyard after a lengthy career. He was a great MG enthusiast. In his later years, he became involved in ballroom dancing and loved to dance the Waltz.

He is survived by: son, Wayne Ignacio and his wife, Peggy; grandchildren, Jason Ignacio, Matthew Ignacio, Megan Rego, Josh Ignacio and Adam Ignacio; great-grandchildren, Hannah Rego, Lea Ignacio, Joseph Ignacio, Amanda Ignacio and Garrett Ignacio; sister, Mary Quail; he was also the father of the late Joseph Ignacio and brother of the late Eleanor Natino and the late Francis Enos.

His funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
