Maria Isaura Matos

New Bedford — Maria I. Matos, age 84 of New Bedford, passed away Monday March 6, 2017 at Sacred Heart Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of Antonio Matos and the daughter of the late Miguel and Jacinta Ferraz.

Born in St. Michael, Azores Mrs. Matos came to this country and worked as a Hairdresser for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by 4 children: Lina Delgado-Matos, Delia Sousa and her husband Joseph, Altino Matos all of New Bedford and Luis Matos and his wife Dalia of New Hampshire; 6 grandchildren: Nina, Andy, Nicholas, Alexa, Lucious and Ava as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Matos was predeceased by 11 siblings.

Mrs. Matos has been cremated and services for her will be held in the funeral home on Saturday , March 18, 2017 at 9 A.M. Visitation prior to services will take place between the hours of 8 and 9 A.M. Burial of her ashes will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the family.
