Anne Marie “Nina” Lewis,

NEW BEDFORD — Anne Marie “Nina” Lewis, age 68, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at her home. She was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Claudina “Clara” (Correia) Lewis.

A lifelong resident of this area, Nina held many titles during her life. She was a Nun with the Sisters of St. Dorothy, CCD coordinator, as well as a teacher of early childhood education with various Catholic schools. She was a very creative woman who enjoyed reading and knitting and was a very talented musician. She was also a nanny for a family in Concord, MA.

She is survived by 4 siblings: Claire Lewis and her husband, Edward Moniz; Joseph Lewis and his wife, Fernanda; Tom Lewis and his wife, Donna, all of New Bedford and Mary DeMello and her husband, Joseph, of Acushnet. She aslo leaves behind 10 nieces/nephews, a great niece and 2 great nephews.

Her funeral will be Saturday, April 22 beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation is Friday evening on April 21 from 6 – 8 P.M. Relative and friends are invited to attend.
