Josephine Helen Silva

Maine – Josephine Helen (Carvalho) Silva, age 77 of Hudson, Maine formerly of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at her son’s home in Hudson, Maine. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald C. Silva and the daughter of the late Fortunata S. (Cabral) and Joseph Carvalho.

She was born in New Bedford and had worked as a caretaker for area nursing homes; she also worked at a laundromat as well as a fish house. She loved to crochet afghans in her free time.

She is survived by her four children; daughter, Tammy Silva of Acushnet; daughter, Donna Silva of New Bedford; son, Donald Silva Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Hudson, Maine; daughter, Roxann Zawalich and her husband, John of Auburn, MA; nine grandchildren, Derrick, Stephanie, Jonathan, Donny, Christopher, Joshua, Katie, Stephen, Zachary; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Bessette; three brothers, Wayne Carvalho, Kenneth Carvalho and Joseph Carvalho; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Her visiting hours will be Saturday afternoon from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. Her funeral and burial will be private.
