New Bedford – Leonard A. Costa Sr., age 87 of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (Freitas) Costa and was the son of the late Clotilda Bettencourt and William Costa .
He was born in Dartmouth, MA and worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his children: Vanessa Chaput, Lisa Romanowicz, Barbara Costa and Leonard Costa Jr., grandchildren: Brandon W. Santiago, Craig J. Costa, Evan L. Costa, Kendra Romanowicz and Kassandra Romanowicz, and also survived by his sister Elvira DeMello. He was the father of the late Sandra Costa and grandfather of the late Matthew D. Chaput and David Chaput.
