Tavares.Survivors include 3 Sons Manuel Furtado, Joao Tavares and Jose Furtado all of New Bedford, 2 Daughters Maria Gomes and her husband Manuel and Maria A. Furtado both of New Bedford, 1 Brother Joao Medeiros and his wife Fernanda of New Bedford, 2 Sisters Maria Moore of New Bedford, and Maria Telheiro and her husband Jose of New Bedford, 7 Grandchildren Mario, Nelia, Steven, Steve, Sandy, Theresa, and Mandy, 1 Great Grandchild Tobie and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Tavares was the Daughter of the late Antonio F. and Maria Tavares . She was formerly employed as a Stitcher for Colonial Textile. She received her Citizenship May 6, 1999. She was a Communicant of St John The Baptist Church.

a Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday December 1, 2005 at St John the Baptist Church at 10 A.M. Visiting hours will be Wednesday November 30, 2005 from 5 to 9 P.M. at The Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Burial will take place at St John Cemetery
