Maria Goulart Vargas

New Bedford – Maria Goulart Vargas, age 92, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Sippican Health Care with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco O. Vargas.

Maria was born in Pico, Azores to the late Jose R. Goulart and Maria (Alvernaz) Goulart. She worked at Cliftex.

She is survived by her children, Manuel and his wife Marybeth, Alda, Lucia Maria, Mario and Francisco and his wife Carrie, 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Katherine, Peter, Matthew, Samantha, Maryjean, Elizabeth, Anne, Lauren, Frank and Jennifer and 3 great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Nova and Lucas, sister, Deolinda G. Pires and brother, Manuel A. and his wife Dolly Goulart, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Maria's’ visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 24th from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
