Joaquim F. Silva

New Bedford – Joaquim F. Silva, age 99, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Soares) Silva.

Joaquim was born in Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde to the late Francisco and Paula E. (Brito) Silva. He had worked on a ship, the Madeline, as a chef while in the Merchant Marines.

He is survived by his children, Joao Silva, fiancee of Victoria Travaglione of Cape Cod, Edmund and his wife Luz of Las Vegas, John Silva and his wife Roberta of New Bedford, Anna Eyena and her husband Timothy of New Bedford; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lourdes Jardin of Boston; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Francisco Silva, Joseph Silva, Joaquim Silva and Dina Williams and was also predeceased by 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

Joaquim’s visiting hours will be held on Friday morning, October 18th from 8:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Assumption Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately take place in Rural Cemetery.
