Antonio Peixoto Moniz

New Bedford – Antonio Peixoto Moniz, age 63, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the longtime companion of Jeanette Rose.

Antonio was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Mariano and Victoria (Melo) Moniz. He moved to this area in January 1969, where he worked in maintenance for Almeida Bus Line and had also worked at Berkshire Hathaway and Wendy’s. He was also part of the New Bedford Police Auxiliary, helping direct traffic in front of Mount Carmel Church.

He is survived by his companion, Jeanette; 4 brothers, Jose Melo, Dinis Melo, Norberto Melo and Daniel Moniz; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Isaura Amaral, Eduardo Melo and Joao Melo. He was also the beloved owner of his late dog, Diamond.

Antonio’s visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Thursday, November 21st from 8:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. followed with a service to begin at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
