Maria Solana Jorge

New Bedford – Maria Solana (DoPao) Jorge, age 76, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Hathaway Manor. Born in Funchal, Madeira, she was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel DoPao and Amelia (Rodrigues) DoPao.

Maria had been a loving homemaker to her family. She had also been a foster mother for 20 years with the Child and Family Services of New Bedford.

She is survived by her children, Dianne Jorge of South Carolina, Michelle Bettencourt and her husband Dinis Furtado of New Bedford and Jessica Jorge; grandchildren, Ashtyn Furtado, Avery Medeiros and Denzel Hubbard; brothers, Virgilio DoPao and his wife Rosa, Jose Rodrigues and his wife Rosanna; sisters, Almerinda Rodrigues and Fatima Nobrega and her husband Luis; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister-in-law of the late Antonio Rodrigues, Almerinda’s late husband.

Maria’s visiting hours will take place on Thursday, December 12th from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. with a service to take place during that time.
