Luz Nereida Gonzalez Mendez

New Bedford – Luz Nereida Gonzalez Mendez, age 71, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, she was the beloved daughter of the late Juan Gonzalez and Bienvenida (Hernandez) Mendez.

Luz had been a loving homemaker to her family.

She is survived by her children, Rafael Gonzalez (Ito), Angel Gonzalez III (Moreno) and Juan Gonzalez (Juanito); daughter in law, Rose Gonzalez; grandchildren, Angel Gonzalez Jr., Johnathan Gonzalez, Elias Gonzalez and Alyssa Gonzalez; Siblings, Providencia, Francisco, Maria, Laura, Rene and Israel, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Fausto Gonzalez (Junior) and grandmother of the late Juan Gonzalez Jr. (Macho) and sister of the late Ramon Gonzalez, Luis Gonzalez, Gloria Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzalez, Bienvenido Gonzalez, Estrella Gonzalez Hernandez and Sonia Gonzalez.

Luz’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday January 2nd, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00A.M. followed by a service to take place at 11:00 A.M at Perry Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
