Joaquina (Magalhaes) Estrella

New Bedford – Joaquina (Magalhaes) Estrella, age 97, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at CareOne New Bedford. She was the beloved wife of the late Ludjero Estrella.

Joaquina was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Antonio and Maria (Braga) Magalhaes. She had worked at Cliftex Inc. for over 30 years. Joaquina loved attending church, gardening, cooking and sewing.

She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Estrella Jones; grandson, Brian T. Granfield and his fiancé Tina Furtado and her two sons Shayne and Jon; grandson, Matthew D. Granfield and his fiancé Sonya Maria Mendonca; sibling, Getulio Magalhaes of New Bedford; as well as many, many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Virginia, Rose, Philomena, Lidia, Sebastiao, Geronimo, Marie Lucilia and Maria Clara.

Joaquina’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday morning, February 5th from 9:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home with a service to take place at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
