New Bedford – Manuel C. Pimentel, age 82, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria Jose (Pacheco) Pimentel.

Manuel was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Jose Pimentel and Lourdes (Carreira) Pimentel and moved to this country in 1976. He worked in the Fishing Industry as a maintenance man.

He loved to watch Wrestling, spending time in his garden and also liked to meet people, he especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; children, Jose Pimentel, Ed Pimentel and his wife Amanda and Maggie Warren and her husband Michael; as well as 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, 1 sister and several nieces and nephews.

Manuel’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 19th from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. By now, you are aware that another way to limit the spread of the virus is to refrain from going out in public if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling unwell. Please stay home to not only speed your recovery and prevent spreading illness, but to also protect those in high-risk groups. If you are experiencing a cough, fever, or shortness of breath, we encourage you to not attend funeral services. You can reach out to the family via the online Guestbook to share your sympathies with the family. Due to the recent Massachusetts restriction, we cannot have gatherings of more than 25 people. This will mean only 25 people will be allowed in the building at one time. Please use the handicapped door entrance at the back of our building to enter where you will be given further instructions. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this very trying time.

His funeral services will be held Friday morning, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Please note that the church service will be limited to 10 people as per The Diocese until further notice. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
