New Bedford – Jaime J. Moreira, age 74, of Dartmouth passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in St. Michael, Azores he was the beloved son of the late Jose Moreira and Maria do Carmo (Vieira) Moreira.

Jaime’s presence was always followed by a touch of class. Jaime was an amazing uncle and brother. He was affectionately known to his family as the “Mayor”. Jaime had worked in sales for Silverstein’s and The Bay for many years. He would fondly reminisce of those times and cherished the friendships he made along the way. Jaime loved to cook and enjoyed traveling in his free time.

He is survived by his sisters, Ludgarda DeMello and Maria “Tina” Freitas and her husband Mauricio; niece, Patricia Freitas and her husband Greg Cardoza; nephew, Robert Vieira and niece, Elizabeth Sousa. He is also survived by great nephews; Sean Cardoza and Lance Sousa and great nieces; Audrey Cardoza and Marissa Vieira. He was formerly married to Eva Alves.

His family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff in the Century 4 unit at St. Luke’s Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jaime’s memory may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Jaime’s funeral services will be private due to the recent mandated restrictions in regards to the Covid-19 Pandemic. A Memorial Mass and celebration of life for Jaime will be held at a later date.
