Peter F. Woodhouse

d. April 26, 2020

Dartmouth - Peter F. Woodhouse, 50, of Dartmouth MA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 26, 2020. He was the loving husband of Natalie Woodhouse and beloved son of Lilla Woodhouse. Peter was born on February 7, 1970 in Providence, RI to Brierly and Lilla Woodhouse. He lived most of his young adult life in Little Compton, RI and more recently lived in Dartmouth with his wife Natalie.

During his younger years, Peter would be found with his friends riding bikes and surfing the waves at South Shore Beach, one of his favorite spots. He loved the ocean and the peace that it brought him. His love of surfing will live on in others including his nephew Charlie whom he taught to surf and now teaches surfing to young boys and girls. The ocean was always his peaceful place. Peter always took pride in having the cleanest pool around so that he could enjoy quality time with his grandchildren especially with his best buddy Mason. They would always be the first in the pool even when the water was ice cold. Peter enjoyed hosting barbecues, cooking on the grill and relaxing by the fire. He would be found listening to his favorite music and playing his bongos. His best friend, Kimo, always by his side. He loved his dog very much and would go on walks in the woods every day. Peter loved his family and friends and he will be sadly missed by all. He was a good husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.

Peter received his bachelor’s degree at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. His most recent accomplishment was earning a Master’s Degree from UMass Dartmouth in Public Policy. He was an advocate for the protection of land and the environment. This led him to seek employment at the Westport Land and Conservation as well as Sylvan Nursery. He took pride in being able to recite every tree and plant by its Latin name. Peter was also a great bartender working for 99 Restaurant and Compton Clambakes. His patrons and co-workers alike remember his sense of humor and knowledge of sports. He was very straightforward but funny. There was always laughter in the air when he was around. Some of his favorite things to do was watch football on Sundays while enjoying his favorite food. He was passionate about his sports teams and knew every single team player’s name. It was always the topic of conversation during social gatherings with the other guys and with his Mom.

Peter is survived by his wife Natalie; his mother, Lilla who he adored with all his heart and soul. For the past two years, Peter played a big part in the care of his mom during her battle with cancer. The bond that they shared was a very special one and one that could not be broken. He also leaves his sister Carla and her husband Richard and their children Emma and Charlie; his brother Timothy and his wife Kim and their two children Dan and Molly. Peter also leaves behind his step-daughter Nicole and her husband Randy; step-son Jeremiah, step-grandchildren Raegan, Audrey and Mason who meant the world to him, and cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and in-laws. His memory, humor and infectious smile will live in the hearts of those that loved him forever.

He was predeceased by his father, Brierly Woodhouse.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date when friends and family can safely come together.
