New Bedford – John M. Medeiros, age 90, of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Hathaway Manor after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice (Luiz) Medeiros.

Born in Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores he was the son of the late Filomeno J. Medeiros and Maria do Rosario (Mello) Medeiros. He had worked as a superintendent at Berkshire Hathaway. He was also a soccer referee for most of his life and he was also a soccer Commissioner for the past 20 years. John had been a member of Our Lady of Angels Club and was the founding member of LASA.

Joao’s survivors include his 3 siblings, Joseph D. Medeiros, Mary Pires and Maria Fatima Sanguinetti and her husband Marco; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was the brother-in-law of the late Adelaide Medeiros and Francisco Pires.

John’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 8:30 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be private.

In addition, a memorial service and a celebration of his life will be held at a later time.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home. Attendance in church will also be limited to meet capacity restrictions. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this time.
