Raul Branquinho

New Bedford – Raul P. Branquinho, age 85, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He had been the beloved husband of Natalia (Raposo) Branquinho, to whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in St. Michael, Azores he was the son of the late Manuel Ponte Branquinho and Maria Teresa (Costa) Branquinho. He had worked at The Oaks Nursing Home for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Natalia; daughter, Ana Pinto and her husband Jerry of New Bedford, son, Roy Branquinho of New Bedford, daughter, Maria Melo and her husband Steven Melo of New Bedford, daughter, Lucy Burke of Virginia and son, Fernando Branquinho and his fiancé Ana Gil Lavesque of New Bedford; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Luisa da Ponte, Adriano Branquinho and José Francisco Branquinho; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his daughter, the late Lubelia Palhinhas and his siblings, the late Manuel Branquinho, Eduardo Branquinho, Irene Silvia and Amelia Casaca.

Raul’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020. Visiting hours will take place at Perry Funeral Home from 7:30 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
