Maria L. (Sousa) Ferreira

New Bedford – Maria L. (Sousa) Ferreira, age 98, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Oaks Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmundo Ferreira.

Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Zulmero Sousa and Maria deLuz (Sousa) Sousa. She had been a loving homemaker to her family over the years.

She is survived by her 2 children, Edmundo Ferreira and his wife Gloria, and Maria Freitas; grandchildren, Isadore Freitas and his wife Maureen, Sandra Dias and her husband Steve, Nelia Bisbano and her husband Ralph, Christopher Ferreira and his wife Lee, Brian Ferreira and his wife Michelle, Kelly Ann Concannon and her husband David; great-grandchildren, Brittany Birch, Amber Ferreira, Landon Dias, Kyle Samagaio, Brooke Ferreira, Sophia Dias, Jarrid Cardoso, Jacob Freitas and Corey Ferreira. She is also survived by her great-great-grandchildren, Madison Isabella Birch and Kendall Mae Birch.

Maria was also the mother of the late Antonio Ferreira.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday morning, January 12, 2021 from 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St John’s Cemetery.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
