Rita S. (Santos) Fragata

New Bedford – Rita S. (Santos) Fragata, age 86, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Eduardo M. Fragata.

Rita was born in Ericeira, Portugal to the late Francisco Dos Santos and Maria (Arsenio) Dos Santos. She had been a loving homemaker to her family over the years. Rita loved to cook, sew and she especially loved time spent with her family.

Rita is survived by her two sons, Hilario F. Fragata and his fiancé Ana Ferreira and Eduardo S. Fragata and his wife Heather; five grandchildren, Eduardo Rocco Fragata, Isabelle Fragata, Luke Fragata, April Correia and Mark Correia; two sisters, Esmerelda Soares and Benvinda Arvelo; a brother, Antonio Dos Santos; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rita’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening, January 13, 2021 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will be Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
