New Bedford – Dennis G. Sullivan, age 82, and Cynthia A. (Almeida) Sullivan, age 81, both of New Bedford, MA passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital. Dennis passed on Friday, January 15, 2021 and Cynthia passed on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
Dennis was born in Dubuque, Iowa to the late Maurice O. Sullivan and Thelma (Braem) Sullivan. He was a United States Navy Veteran and served aboard the U.S.S. Benham DD-796. He later went on to work as a tire builder for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
Cynthia was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Antone Almeida and Mary S. (Sylvia) Almeida. She had worked at Ann & Hope and Vanity Fair throughout the years.
Dennis and Cynthia are survived by their 3 children, Pat Sullivan, Sharon Sullivan and her husband Phillip Mello and Jonathan Sullivan and his wife Karen; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Ducharme-Srisirikul, Kevin Ducharme, Kristy Martin and Cheryl Sullivan; 2 great-granddaughters, Tayla Ponte and Olivia Srisirikul and daughter-in-law, Katrina Sullivan.
They are also survived by Dennis’s sister, Carole Holms; Cynthia’s brother, Donald Almeida and his wife Edna and her brother-in-law, Norman Furtado; as well as several nieces and nephews.
They were both predeceased by their late son, Dennis G. Sullivan, Jr.
Dennis was predeceased by his late sister, Mary Jane Beirise and late brother Eugene Sullivan and Cynthia was predeceased by her late sister, Louise Furtado.
Dennis and Cynthia’s visiting hours will be held together on Tuesday evening, January 19, 2021 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Their funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be private.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home. Attendance at the church will also be limited to meet capacity restrictions. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this time.
