Joaquim Luis

New Bedford – Joaquim Luis, age 93, of Fairhaven, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Our Lady’s Haven. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Beatriz (Mateus) Luis.

Joaquim was born in Ribeira de Cima, Porto de Mos, Portugal to the late Manuel Luis and Maria da Piedade (Dias) Luis. He had worked as a presser for cape Cod Sportswear for many years.

Joaquim is survived by his 2 daughters, Lea Ahaesy and her husband, Edward Ahaesy and Lucy Politano and her husband, Dennis Politano; grandchildren, Tyler and Kiana Politano and Mayah and Ian Ahaesy; sister, Idalina da Piedade Dias Correia; as well as several niece and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Manuel Luis, Jose Luis and Maria da Piedade Dias.

Joaquim’s visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Monday morning, February 8, 2021 at Perry Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held from 9:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. with a service to take place at 11:30 A.M. Burial will be private.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
