New Bedford - Alyce Emma Rezendes of New Bedford passed away on March 7 after a 40-year battle with Crohn’s Disease. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Senna of Florida, her son, Gary Rezendes of New Bedford, longtime partner, John N. Vincent of Dartmouth, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, beloved nephew, Michael Vieira and extended loving family - nephews, nieces, cousins, and aunts who enjoyed good relationships with her. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, M. Steven Rezendes and by her brother, Albert Lopes and was daughter of the late Albert Lopes of New Bedford and Mary Louise England of New Bedford.

Alyce was a spunky soul who enjoyed living life to the fullest. She and her partner John would attend 1950’s night in downtown New Bedford, drive along the coast and often down to Buzzard’s Bay.

Evening visitations will be held on Wednesday, March 10th from 5-8 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford. The funeral commences on Thursday, March 11th beginning at Perry Funeral Home at 8:15 A.M. and followed by Mass to be held at the Seamen’s Bethel, 15 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, a distanced breakfast gathering will be held at the Century House, N. Main Street, Acushnet. A display of Alyce’s family genealogy will be present; she took pride in her impeccable research and has left it for posterity.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home. Attendance at Seamen’s Bethel and the cemetery will also be limited in order to meet their mandated capacity restrictions as well.
