Maria Rosario (Brum) Verissimo

New Bedford – Maria Rosario (Brum) Verissimo, age 97, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at CareOne at New Bedford. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Borges Verissimo.

Maria was born in Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, to the late Augusto Brum and Maria Jose (Borges) Brum. She had been a loving homemaker to her family over the years. She loved to sew, knit and cook. Her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maria is survived by her 4 daughters, Eduarda Costa and her late husband John of New Bedford, Virginia deMiranda and her husband Dionisio of New Bedford, Candida DeMelo and her husband Luis of Springfield, FL and Ana Poeira and her husband Francisco of Dartmouth; son, Duarte Borges and his wife Fernanda of Dartmouth; sister, Amelia Cabral of Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Patricia Verissimo; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her 2 sons, the late Joseph Verissimo and the late Antonio August Verissimo and her late siblings, Maria dosAnjos Brum, Antonio Brum, Joao Brum and Mariana Botelho.

Maria’s funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021. Visiting hours will take place at Perry Funeral Home from 8:30 A.M. -10:30 A.M. and followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
