Emerick 'Rick' P. Nelson

Rhode Island – Emerick “Rick” P. Nelson, age 70, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Morgan Health Center in Rhode Island.

Rick was born in Winsted, CT to Prescott “Pete” Nelson and Anne (Bsullak) Nelson. He had served in the U.S. Army and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was a proud graduate of Norwich University class of 1973 and joined the U.S. Army after his graduation. During his years in the 101st Airborne, he earned the rank of Major and obtained his master’s degree from University of Southern California. Outside of his work and military service, Rick was an avid outdoorsman and numismatist.

Rick is survived by his 2 children, Kaitlin Nelson and Matthew Nelson; 1 brother, Tom Nelson; as well as 2 nieces—Karen Turpin and Cherie Finn—and 2 nephews—Tommy Nelson and Glen Nelson.

Emerick’s funeral services were private.
