Manuel 'Simao' Simas Alves

New Bedford – Manuel “Simao” Simas Alves, age 80, of Dartmouth, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria Joao Alves with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.

Manuel was born in Faial, Azores to the late Manuel Alves and Maria Adelaide (Nunes) Simas Alves. He had worked as a foreman for Shepard Clothing for many years. He had also been a big Sporting fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Alves; his 2 daughters, Maria M. Alves Boisvert and Grace Alves Moniz and her husband Tony; 2 grandchildren, Kam Goldstone and Meaghan Costa; siblings, Antonio Alves, Fernanda Alves Ramos, Alberto Alves and Olga Alves Sousa; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Estella Alves Pacheco and Grace Alves Silva.

Manuel’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening, November 3, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will take place Thursday morning in the funeral home, beginning at 8:30 A.M. with a service to take place at 9:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
