Maria C. (Claudino) Arruda

New Bedford – Maria C. (Claudino) Arruda, age 81, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Arruda.

Maria was born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores to the late Jose Claudino and Maria F. (Fernandes) Claudino. She had worked as a home health aide and had also been a loving homemaker to her family over the years.

She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Gregorio and her husband John, Susan Nadeau and her husband James and Kerry Ann Hughes and her husband Douglas; grandchildren, Justine, Dalton, Morgan, Alianna, Caleb, Sophia and Cullen; sister, Almerinda Jorge; brother, Jose Claudino; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased buy her late son, Edward Arruda and her late brother Manuel Claudino.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
