Peter Steve Monteiro

New Bedford – Peter Steve Monteiro, age 87, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Sharon (Arruda) Monteiro.

Born in Wareham, MA he was the son of the late Peter Steve Monteiro Sr. and Nellie (Ponte) Monteiro. He spent his youth both playing baseball, which eventually lead to him playing semi-professional baseball; and, he played in the Mexican-American League in Sacramento, CA. At Tobey Hospital, Wareham, MA, he was a Supervisor, and instrumental in innovating the way equipment ordering, purchasing, and packaging was done in the Central Sterile Processing Department. In his later years, he was an auto parts delivery driver for many years.

Peter is survived by his children, Mark Monteiro, Lisa McCartney, Derek Monteiro, Richard Monteiro, Donald Monteiro and Gina Monteiro; siblings, Rosemary Monteiro, Robert Monteiro and Yolanda Monteiro; as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his late son, Steven Monteiro.

Peter’s funeral arrangements were private.
