Maria J. Medeiros

New Bedford – Maria J. Medeiros, age 97, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Antonio Medeiros.

Maria was born in Água de’Alto, São Miguel, Azores, Portugal to the late Angelina Carqueja. She had been a housekeeper, factory worker and a caretaker of an estate in Cotuit, MA over the years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking and especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her 2 children, John M. Medeiros and his wife Lucia and Maria J. Martins; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth Cahill, Michelle Medeiros, Jessica Mink, David L. Martins and Monica Medeiros; 3 great-grandchildren, Tabitha Medeiros, Adam Medeiros and Bradley Mink; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her late sister, Idalina Calheta.

Maria’s visiting hours and funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Her visiting hours will be held from 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
