Charles A. "Charlie" Arruda

Dartmouth – Charles A. “Charlie” Arruda, 89, of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his home surrounded by his devoted and caring wife and family. He was the beloved husband of Eva (Aguiar) Arruda.

Charlie was born in New Bedford MA to the late William Arruda, Sr. and Yvonne (Parent) Arruda. He was a Dartmouth resident for well over 50 years. Charlie had worked for 38 years at St. John’s Cemetery as a backhoe operator until his retirement. He had been a former member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. John’s Church, as well as a parishioner of St. John’s Church.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife Eva Arruda; his children, Charleen Moniz and her husband Leonard of Freetown, Peter Arruda and his wife Denise of South Carolina and David Arruda and his wife Ann Marie of Fall River; his grandchildren, Cameron Arruda, Nathan Arruda, Mary Chasse, Christopher Boever, Austin Pees and Jack Arruda. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeannette Rodrigues of New Bedford and Colleen Costa of Florida.

Charlie was predeceased by his late grandson, Andrew Ridder and his late siblings, William Arruda, Jr., Shirley Chase and Arthur Arruda.

His visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will take place on Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.

Flowers will be graciously accepted or for those who would prefer to make a donation instead, they can send it to The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memory of Charlie.
