Maria 'Adriana' (Maciel) Arruda

Florida – Maria “Adriana” (Maciel) Arruda, age 72, of New Bedford, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 15, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Manuel Arruda.

Maria was born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, and was the loved daughter of the late Joao Maciel Jr. and Maria Helena (Pacheco) Maciel. She had worked as a caregiver for Better Community Living Health Care for many years.

Maria is survived by her loving husband, Manuel Arruda; her children, Goretti Pacheco and her husband Roberto, Peter Arruda and his wife Monica and Alexander Arruda; grandchildren, Peter Arruda Jr., Samantha Arruda, Macenzie Arruda, Christofer Arruda, Anderson Arruda, Robert Pacheco Jr., Taylor Arruda and Breanna Pacheco; siblings, Fatima Rego, Vidalia Viegas, Emanuel Maciel, John Maciel; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her late son, Richard “Richy” Maciel Arruda and her late sister, Filomena Andrade.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 202 from 5:00P.M.-8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
