Thomas Sylvia Jr.

New Bedford – Thomas Sylvia Jr., age 87, of New Bedford, MA and formerly of Connecticut passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility. He was the husband of the late Michelle Sylvia.

Thomas was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Thomas Sylvia Sr. and Mary Stella (Santos) Sylvia. He had been a textile printer at Dartmouth Finishing and Cranston Print Works. He had loved woodworking, camping, rescue dogs and bowling.

Thomas is survived by his children, Tammy Wunschel and her husband Dana of Fairhaven, Lisa LaPlante and her husband Rick of New Bedford and Kevin Sylvia and his wife Brenda of Asheboro, NC; his step-son, Derek Stabell of Washington; grandchildren, Chad Wunschel and his wife Janine of Fairhaven, Scott Medeiros of Richmond, VA, Garrett Wunschel and his wife Kayla of Fairhaven and Ryan Sylvia of Asheboro, NC; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Weston and Ryleigh. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Martin of South Dartmouth and step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Meagan Stabell of Oregon; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Thomas was predeceased by his daughter, Carol Sylvia and his sister, Irene Mello.

His visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Cremation to follow.
