Lynne O'Shaughnnessey

d. March 7, 2023

New Bedford – Lynne M. (Millette) O’Shaughnnessey, age 81, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Sacred Heart Nursing home after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) O’Shaughnnessey.

Lynne was born in New Bedford, MA, and was predeceased by her parents, Mary Millette and Hormidas (Chic) Millette. Lynne was an accomplished beautician, having worked at the former “Beauty Time Salon,” which was a family business, as well as the “New Bedford Beauty Academy.” She had also earned her cosmetology teaching licensure from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts where she loved educating hundreds of future hairstylists whom all are now working in their field throughout Greater New Bedford. After Retirement, Lynne then decided she had more to offer, and soon became a long-term substitute cosmetology instructor at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, where she shared her passion for her craft with the youth of our community. Lynne was also an accomplished vocalist for the “Buddy Reis Ban,” and was known for being an exceptional dancer.

Our beloved “GiGi” loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lynne is survived by her two children, daughter Kellie Martin and her husband, Patrick Hunt; her son, Korry Martin; her three grandchildren, Lynne Martin, Ian Abreu and his wife Samantha, and Ryan Martin and his wife Cassandra; as well her great-grandchildren Adriah, Hunter and Logan.

Being the educator that she always was, Lynne decided to donate her body to science so that future healthcare professionals could help understand the effects of dementia and Alzheimer's disease on the human body.

Lynne’s Service will be held in private at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.
