Emily Rita (Barker) Mello

New Bedford - Emily Rita (Barker) Mello, aged 97 years, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Taber Street Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was the beloved widow of Frank F. Mello. Mrs. Mello was the loving mother of Mark Mello of New Bedford and mother-in-law of Michael Rogovsky. She is also survived by 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Mrs. Mello was the sister of the late Frederick Barker.

Mrs. Mello was the daughter of the late Fred G. and Emily W. (King) Barker. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all her life.

Mrs. Mello’s funeral will be held Thursday, August 23 with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Parish on County St. at 10:00 A.M., Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to arrive at the church for 9:30 A.M. Arrangements are through the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St.
