Antonio P. Arruda

New Bedford - Antonio P. Arruda, age 85 years, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Jesus (Silva) Arruda of New Bedford. Mr. Arruda was the father of Laudalina Arruda, Natalia Paulino, Jose Arruda and Maria dos Anjos Ferreira all of New Bedford and Antonio Manuel Arruda of East Providence, RI. He was the brother of Manuel Arruda, Eduardo Arruda and Esmeria Rego all of Canada and the late Jose Arruda and Maria Conceicao Maciel. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 5great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Arruda was a son of the late Manuel and Maria Jesus (Pimentel) Arruda.
He was born in Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores and lived in New Bedford since 1979. Mr. Arruda worked as a machine operator at Berkshire Hathaway.

Mr. Arruda’s Funeral will be Friday at 8:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will be at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday from 6 to 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
