Joaquim "Prancha" Novo

New Bedford – Joaquim “Prancha” Novo died Wednesday March 4, 2009 at St. Lukes Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Rosa “Tita” (Pereira) Novo, who died November 15, 2008. He is survived by 2 sons Tony Novo and his wife Dorene of Dartmouth and Rui Novo of New Bedford, 3 grandchildren Ryan, Jessica, and Tevin Novo.

Mr. Novo was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Cordeiro) Novo. He was born in Figueira da Foz, Portugal and lived in the New Bedford area since 1980. He was a member of Fisherman’s Club and the Amigo’s da Terceira in Pawtucket.

Mrs. Novo’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial is at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 6 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
