Manuel Da Costa Leitao

New Bedford-Manuel da Costa Leitao age 83 years passed away peacefully Tuesday August 25, 2009 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford. He was beloved husband of Constantina (Almeida) Leitao. Manuel was the loved father of Philomena A. Figueiredo, the loving grandfather of Diane M. Pitney, and great-grandfather of James K. Pitney and Isabel M. Pitney. Manuel was the brother of Joseph Leitao. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Leitao was the son of the late Rose (Herminia) Cordeira and Jose da Costa Leitao. He was born São Miguel, Açores. He has lived in this area over fifty years. Manuel was employed as a Machine Technician at Berkshire Hathaway and Columbia Manufacturing.

Mr. Leitao’s Funeral will be Saturday at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 9 A.M with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery New Bedford MA. Visiting hours are Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
