Frank "Shorty" Martin

New Bedford-Frank “Shorty” Martin age 81 years died Friday October 2, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. Frank was the beloved husband of Dolores (Fernandes) Martin of North Dartmouth. Frank was the brother of Beatrice Perry of Dartmouth, and the late Antone, Alfred, Edmund Martin, Dora Normandin and Mary Martin. His best friend and nephew Brian Fernandes. Their close friends Helder Medeiros and Family, and his caregivers Verna and Emily.

Mr. Martin was the son of the late Antone and Maria A. (Sylvia) Martin. He was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all his life. He worked for the New Bedford Housing Authority in the Maintenance Department until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending several peaceful hours on the Padanaram Bridge.

Mr. Martin’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home Tuesday at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church Padanaram, at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5-8 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St.
