Maria Vasconcellos

New Bedford – Maria ( Sao Joao) Vasconcellos, age 91, died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Maria was the wife of the late Jose dosReis Vasconcellos.

Mrs. Vasconcelos was a daughter of the late Manuel Prudencio Pereira da Costa and Filomena da Silva . She was born in Mosteiros, St. Miguel, Açores, Portugal and lived in this area for the last 40 years. Mrs. Vasconcellos was the sister of Diamantina Melo and her husband Henrique of Canada and Urania Amaral and her husband Luis of Fall River. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Mrs. Vasconcellos’ funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Thursday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
