Stephen J. "Steve" Couto

New Bedford - Stephen J. “Steve” Couto, age 57 years, died Monday, August 30, 2010, after a long courageous battle with cancer at Hallmark Nursing Home. He was a son of the late James and Olivia (Moniz) Couto. Mr. Couto was born in New Bedford and was raised in N. Dartmouth. Steve was the loved father of Felicia Couto of Fall River and Stephen. He was the brother of Dolores Westgate of North Dartmouth, Cathy Rock of Ormond Beach, FL. James Couto of Westport and Ronald Couto of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by several nephews and a niece. A niece Lori Westgate predeceased him.

Steve was an attendant at Dartmouth Gas until his illness. He was a very talented musician. He sang and played guitar in several bands, including the Country Cutt-Ups.

Mr. Couto’s funeral will be Tuesday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 12:30 P.M. Services will start at 1 P.M. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
