New Bedford –Maria (Graca) Do Carmo, age 89 years, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Hugo Do Carmo. Survivors include a daughter Antonieta and her husband Jose Lucas and a son Joaquim Do Carmo of New Bedford. Two brothers Antonio Graca, Jaime Graca and a sister, Julia Martins all of Portugal. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a godchild.

Mrs. Do Carmo was a daughter of the late Maria (da Silva) and Jaime dos Reis Grace. She was born in Setubal Portugal and moved here in 1967. She worked as a stitcher at Vanessa dress factory, until her retirement.

Mrs. do Carmo’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Monday with services beginning at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are 5 - 8P.M. on Sunday. Relatives and friends are invited.
