Joseph I. Pedras

New Bedford – Joseph I. Pedras, age 81 years, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital after a period of declining health. He had been a resident of Sacred Heart Nursing Home. He was the loved brother of Mary A. Cabral and her husband Richard, his sister-in-law Elizabeth J. Pedras all of New Bedford and the late Antonio I. Pedras and Helen P. Pedras. He was the loved uncle of Susan Plank and Cheryl A. Carreiro; he also has 2 great nieces and a great nephew.

Mr. Pedras was a son of the late Antonio I. and Aurora L. (Patricio) Pedras. He was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all his life. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.

Mr. Pedras funeral will be Wednesday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
