Alberto Duarte

Alberto Duarte, age 77, of New Bedford, MA, passed away at home on January 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 3, 1948, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Alberto was the beloved son of the late Jordao and Carmelia (Torres) Duarte.

Alberto is survived by his siblings, Victor Duarte and his wife Delfina of Dartmouth, Eduardo Duarte and his wife Teresa of New Jersey, Luisa Arruda and her husband Armando of Canada, Mario Duarte and his wife Maria of New Bedford, and Expo Duarte and his significant other Melinda Bradley of Dartmouth, MA. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Fatima Duarte and several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish his memory.

He was predeceased by his late sibling Joao Duarte and Lilliana Martins, both of whom he held close in his heart.

Alberto's family and friends will gather to honor his life during visiting hours held on January 13, 2026, from 8:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth St, New Bedford, MA, which offers a lighted parking lot and a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance for all who wish to pay their respects.
