Alice Rogers

Alice (DeValles) Rogers, age 103, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Vantage of New Bedford Nursing Home. Born on June 17, 1922, Alice was the cherished wife of the late Stephen M. Rogers. Alice's early life unfolded in the vibrant city of New Bedford, where she was born to the late Cosme A. DeValles and Maria (Moniz) DeValles. 

She dedicated many years to her profession at Davidson’s Meat Products Company, showcasing her commitment and work ethic throughout her career. Beyond her professional endeavors, Alice was a beloved member of her community and played an active role as a participant in the Seniors Club at St. James Church. She loved to play bingo, keno, and cards. She also loved going out to eat and having her ice cream. 

Alice leaves behind a loving family that includes several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. Her legacy is also marked by the memory of her late siblings, Mary Souza, Rose Dart, Alexandrina “Lee” Martin, and Jack DeValles, who have predeceased her. Alice will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her.

In honor of her life, visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Perry Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday morning, beginning at 9:00 AM in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth St, New Bedford, MA, which offers a welcoming environment with ample lighted parking and a handicap-accessible ramp for all those wishing to pay their respects.
