Alice Joyce (Richmond) Tavares

Alice Joyce (Richmond) Tavares, age 97, passed away on August 6, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on December 26, 1928, Alice was the cherished daughter of the late William R. Richmond and Rose F. (Sylvia) Richmond. She had worked as a presser for Bell’s Sportwear for many years.

Alice was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank S. Tavares.

Alice leaves behind her son Frank G. Tavares, and her daughter, Joyce A. Correira, and her husband Rick.

She was the cherished grandmother of Casey L. Cabral, and her husband Colby; Frank G. Tavares Jr., and his partner Julie, Kimberly R. Tavares; and Nicholas F. Tavares. Alice was also a loving great-grandmother to Abigail A. Macy, Charlotte E. Macy, Maxwell O. Cabral and Mollie J. Tavares.

Alice also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, especially Dianne Roderick, Richard Richmond and Wayne Richmond, who held a special place in her heart.

Alice's life was blessed by the love of her family, and her memory will live on through the many generations she helped bring together. She will be remembered with love and missed dearly by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts 02740. A celebration of life for Alice will be held at a later date.

May Alice rest peacefully and be surrounded forever by the love she gave to those closest to her.
