Angel L. Nieves, age 37, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away tragically on Thursday, March 5, 2026, while fishing, leaving behind family and friends who will be forever changed by his absence. Born on June 27, 1988, in New Bedford, Angel was the cherished and beloved son of Martha Figueroa and the late Angel A. Nieves. He worked as a fisherman, sharing his deep respect and love for the sea with those around him. Angel loved spending time outdoors, whether fishing, camping, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. He also had a passion for cooking and carried a profound love for God, which touched and inspired all who knew him. Though his time on this earth was far too brief, the love and laughter he brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to know him will remain eternally in memory.
Angel is survived by his devoted mother, Martha Figueroa, and stepdad, Jose Torres, as well as his beloved siblings, Jose Nieves, Jonathan Nieves, and Makayla Nieves and her partner Jeffrey Melo. He leaves behind his loving children, Kaylani Nieves, Talia Nieves, Juliana Nieves, and Adrian Nieves, and his fiancée, Danielle Jeffreys. He is also lovingly remembered by his niece, Catia Melo, his nephews, Noah Melo and Mateo Nieves, multiple step-siblings, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
